One of the most common diagnostic tools available to dentistry, dental x-ray is an imaging system designed to penetrate the mouth’s hard and soft structures, capturing an image for dental professionals in order to best plan a course of action for treatment of the patient. It has a wide range of applications including, but not limited to, the examination of cavities, recording anomalies in the structure of the jaw (for example tumours), studying tooth pattern – for example if a patient may need a brace or other corrective surgery, or for examination of the soft tissue like infection of the gums.
